IBS offers four postgraduate programmes in English, leading to a Master of Sciences degree conferred by Oxford Brookes University:

  • MSc in International Business
  • MSc in Financial Management
  • MSc in Human Resource Management
  • MSc in Marketing Management

All our MSc programmes belonging to our MSc Portfolio are full time, 3-term long and last for effectively one calendar year (from September till September) and are designed primarily for recent graduates from countries all over the world, but will also be attractive for those wishing to make a career change. (For further details of admission criteria please go to Application process .)

In order to ensure the possibility for our students to work full time while studying, we have created a schedule that would fit their work duties: classes are held on Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturday all day.

The programmes of the MSc Portfolio share the following common features regarding the curriculum and the delivery:

Curriculum Structure: Common Elements

Since the organisational survival in the global marketplace demands effective competitive strategies, all of our programmes belonging to our MSc Portfolio put a considerable emphasis on the strategic thinking component. And what is strategic thinking? It is a capacity for thinking where the following attributes – some or all of them – might be present simultaneously:

  • looking at an issue in an integrated perspective,
  • taking the environment as an evolving system the given issue forms part of,
  • appreciating that there might be no ultimate answer to the question(s) raised.

The programmes of our MSc Portfolio are designed to enhance our participants’ readiness to engage in such thinking. Relevant to the complexities involved in this approach the programme is divided into two-two stages within the first two terms. We call these four stages “Thinking Blocks”: (1) Environment, (2) Structures, (3) Process Know-How, and (4) Functions. The first and the third stages are common for all MSc programmes – this approach gives the opportunity to appreciate, in a wider sense, the structure and purpose of organisations, whether they are commercial companies, public institutions or not for profit organisations. During the last term, students write a dissertation or a consultancy project work according to their choice.

As a result of the framework of the MSc Portfolio described above all the programmes require enhancement of a range of cognitive and intellectual skills together with techniques specific to business and management, and demonstration of several personal and interpersonal skills from the students. These common outcomes are as follows:

  • independent reading and learning skills needed for advanced academic study and lifelong learning;
  • being able to think critically (including among others to organise and critically appraise thoughts, evaluate statements), and being creative and showing originality;
  • ability to conduct research (either individually or as part of a team through research design, collection, analysis, synthesis of data, evaluation of rigour and validity of published research, and reporting) into business and management issues using information from a variety of academic and non-academic sources;
  • numeracy and quantitative skills, and effective use of communication and information technology;
  • ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, using a range of media;
  • personal effectiveness (including critical self-awareness and self-reflection, time management, and sensitivity to diversity) and effective performance within team environment (team selection, delegation, development and management, including selecting appropriate leadership style for different situations).
