Oxford Brookes University

Oxford Brookes University is a key validation partner of IBS. The co-operation between the two institutions began back in 1991 when a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed for the delivery of the franchised BA in Business Studies (BABS) programme in Budapest. Under conditions set out in the memorandum students of IBS received the BA (Honours) degree in Business Studies from Oxford Brookes.

In 1997 IBS was granted state accredited status in Hungary, and was given the licence to launch its BA in Business Studies programme for a Hungarian degree as well. By the end of the decade IBS tripled its size and reached 1200 students. The range of IBS’s offerings has since then expanded to 6 undergraduate and 4 professional master’s programmes, all leading to Oxford Brookes degrees. The relationship with Brookes was changed from a franchise to a validation-based collaborative partnership, and IBS became one of the largest and most stable collaborative partners of OBU.

The Validation Process

The validation confirms that the structure, depth and quality of the courses are equivalent to those taught in Oxford. The validation includes a quality assurance process established by Oxford Brookes University and a further assessment is made periodically by the United Kingdom's Quality Assurance Agency. In addition, for many years IBS has used an external examiner system whereby well qualified subject specialists review examination papers, course work and dissertations to ensure transparency and fairness in the assessment process. These procedures are supported by a well qualified academic staff and support services to create a positive learning environment.
